Immingham Transport (subsidiary of NTEX) Limited is the one of the Humber regions largest import /export transport, warehousing and distribution providers. Transport & Warehouse Management Systems were in place. Management identified that due to business growth & potential security / safety incidents, more robust planning and operations processes were required to increase quality, efficiency, security and safety standards.

Planned arrivals and departures was managed with a spreadsheet and required manual intervention, this was very time consuming and also led to mistakes.

Bookings had to be checked against the spreadsheet, driver induction validity had to be checked and gate passes were produced manually.

There was no record of trailer locations and instructions for trailer movements were issued by radio which was problematic during busy periods.

Solution

For most customers planned arrivals come straight from the Transport Management system. 
There is also an excel template that customers can complete and upload to the system.

Because 90% of planned arrivals are now in the system prior to arrival, the gate process is much quicker than before. 

Solution

The office & the shunter driver can see exactly where all trailers are located. Trailer movements requests are now issued to the shunter drivers tablet which is fixed in the cab. It’s simple & clear.
